MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHING ASSISTANT

2022-2023 Academic Year

General Summary:

The Math Teaching Assistant provides assistance to math students in the classroom. He/she reports to the Head of School or teacher designated by the Head of School.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists math student(s) with academics in the classroom(s) both indoors and outdoors. 
  • Assists with small group non-direct instruction.
  • Assists with large group non-direct instruction.
  • Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe, caring environment.
  • Accurately maintain program records as assigned and within due dates. 
  • Attends trainings or in-services.
  • Accompanies students on field trips. 
  • Assist with student supervision both indoors and outdoors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and is responsive to guidance and direction from lead teacher.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Minimum education requirement is 60 credit hours or an Associates degree.  
  2. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students and school personnel.
  3. Previous experience working with children.
  4. Ability to care for, supervise, and nurture children.
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  6. Ability to follow directions.
  7. Ability to work independently.
  8. Ability to assist with maintaining records of student progress.
  9. Excellent organizational skills.
  10. Ability to resolve conflict.
  11. Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information.
  12. Willingness to attend training.
  13. Ability to remain calm under stressful situations. 


Location:  The Greenspire School - Middle School

Salary Range:  $15.66 per hour; benefits eligible 

Hours:  8:00 am - 4:00 pm; follows student academic calendar (180 days), plus two additional days in August

Shift Type:  Full time

Anticipated Start Date: August 31, 2022
